CHESS IN THE BAR
Ok, not particularly outrageous or adventurous but perhaps a very suitable place for the students to hold their first event of the new academic year. More interesting is the fact that it was the first outing for my new Random tournament system. In this case it was basically a free-for-all. You play anyone you like, preferably no more than twice per opponent, and all the results go into a grading system. The computer then works out who is the winner. Alexis Hugel led the field by a long way and we look for great things from him in the future.
